June 5th, 1999 - The Chain of Rocks Bridge was officially opened to pedestrian traffic as part of the Trailnet Bike Trail.  It is open to bike riders, walkers, joggers, and rollerbladers and is part of a 40 mile network of trails and bikeways in metropolitan St. Louis Illinois and Missouri.
